Andre Comeaux was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he said he had the great fortune of growing up in a town with such a diverse group of people with an unique culture. After attending college for business, Andre decided to pursue his passion for photography. during his final semester at Brooks Institute for Photography, his portfolio was one of eight chosen to represent his school for the Student Photographer of the Year contest sponsored by American Photo Magazine and Hasselblad.
After graduation, Andre started freelance assisting photographers around the country, specializing in automotive and people photography. He said he starting assisting automotive photographers for two reasons. For his love of cars, and for of the production value; saying, once you produce and work on large complex projects,everything else seems relatively simple. I was lucky to work with many A list shooters,whom he calls masters of production and lighting. While working with some of the top people photographers, Andre said he learned the art of directing talent and crew, which he says are important for having a smooth running shoot. in 2005 Andre was chosen as a runner up in the 2005 APA photo contest, saying its such a honor to have been selected out of all talented photographers in the industry. also in 2005, 3 of andre’s images were selected by nikon,to be published in the Nikon full Line catalog. When asked, why do you like being a photographer, Andre said, there is nothing like taking a concept, and making it a reality. You have a subject, person or object, the lighting, and the execution of the concept,thats about it, except for the fun times during the production. When asked what he specializes in, he said, creating a beautiful image, while having a fun time doing so.
